The band program has experienced growth that has required investment in new instruments. With the larger percussion section, my students need proper electronics to mic and balance the percussion ensemble.
All students will also be using this equipment for all concerts due to us not having a hall.
My high school is located in Southern California where both marching band and drumline is competitive within the area.
The students are extremely dedicated and excited for this new growth and are eager to bring their program into the 21st century of learning in music.
ACHS is a large campus with a wide spread of socioeconomic and cultures. The music program is a source of pride in the campus and within the district and community. The ensembles takes part in several community performances while also traveling over 100 miles in either direction for festivals and competitions.
The music ensembles at are not only ambassadors of our campus, but of our entire community.
My Project
The sound equipment needed is quite expensive and very costly. The percussion ensemble is using aging equipment of several different makes, models, and materials. Some of our mallet instruments are 25+ years old.
This causes several different qualities of sound and tiimbres. The sound equipment will help equalize the different sounds through a mixing board and amplifiers.
The campus also does not have a traditional performance hall. This causes the ensembles to perform concerts in various venues such as outdoors, community centers, churches, and even gymnasiums. This means we desperately need proper amplification of our ensembles so their parents can hear everyone's hard work.
The ACHS students are hard working kids who are eager to work with newer equipment and similar equipment to their peers at local schools.
These students work tirelessly to fundraise, including everyday after school, and they would be so thankful for a gift of such a large and important piece of equipment.
This equipment will allow us to have an elevated performance experience for the students and parents alike.
