My students are a diverse population of learners in the 5th grade. They are funny, energetic, and smart. Our school is a great community for students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. We celebrate creativity, leadership, and excellence in education.
They love to learn and thrive on interesting and engaging topics, which makes the award-winning book list the perfect addition to our classroom library.
As unique as they are, it can be a challenge to get every single child excited about reading. These books make for a perfect reading incentive program. I can't wait for the fire to ignite! Our school is a very large Pre-K through 8th grade public neighborhood school. Though we are blessed with a great media center and classroom technology, reading resources must be shared throughout the entire school population of more than fifteen hundred students, so exciting and up-to-date classroom libraries are a must.
My Project
This collection of award-winning books will be the cornerstone and highlight of our classroom reading incentive program. As students take turns reading each book, they will receive stars on their bingo cart and collect small prizes as each bingo is achieved. The reading incentive program is based on student choice, genre, variety, and individual goal-setting. In addition to being part of the reading incentive program, this book collection will help students have the independent reading choices necessary to master grade level reading comprehension standards. Book collections like these foster in-depth literary discussions, collaborative learning, and cross-genre comparisons and connections.
With these books, students will have the opportunity to experience quality literature that will open them up to a world of learning, collaboration, and positive reading experiences.
