Our school services 70% free and reduced lunch students who come from diverse and some times traumatic backgrounds.
These factors are often a roadblock to their learning. We believe at our school that students can benefit from learning tools to help them break through these barriers. Our students want to learn and with the use of learning tools we are seeing remarkable transformations of these children into reflective learners.
My Project
Students all learn in different ways and it is important that we give them all the tools necessary for them to be successful in the classroom. Not all students can sit and concentrate on what they are supposed to be learning. We use balance balls, sit fits and other learning tools but don't have options for students who need to stand. The standing desks give students in our room the ability to work in an environment that best fits their needs.
The use of these desks will enhance the learning of those students who need to be able to move during learning time.
Having this tool enhances the entire classroom environment because it minimizes disruptive behaviors that can be exhibited by students who need this type of stimulation.
