My Students

This is a PE class, we do all kinds of activities and sports to teach the kids how be active and like it.

The students here are awesome!

This is a large K-5 school with a diverse population of approximately 461 students. We have a large traditional neighborhood program, as well as a multi-age Open Optional Program that attracts students from all over the north and east areas of Anchorage. Our community values high expectations for students in a welcoming, supportive and caring environment. Our school mission statement is: “A diverse community committed to the success of all learners as they become knowledgeable, responsible, and caring citizens."

My Project

These materials will benefit the entire school, K-5. The younger students will use them to begin developing basic map and finding skills. The older students will enjoy more challenging activities that will help them refine map using skills, directional coordinates and compass use.

We have a wonderful outdoor space at this school and using these orienteering flags will give the students a challenge they don't normally get.

Also, activities like these reach kids that don't respond to the typical "ball" games played in PE classes.
