Last year was the first time a photography club was implemented at our school. It was a great success for those that had access to a camera. I would like more children to have this opportunity to try their hand at recording their lives. Please help!
I teach fourth grade in a high poverty, high ELL-populated school.
This doesn't stop them from wanting to learn and participate in their world. They were eager to hear about the new photography club but were disappointed to learn they would have to bring their own cameras. My students have such rich, diverse lives that deserved to be shared. Putting good cameras in their hands will be a step in the right direction.
My Project
The Nikon S31 Coolpix has everything! This entry level digital camera is waterproof, shockproof, and includes video and sound capabilities. The color choices will appeal to their vibrant minds and the over-sized buttons will be perfect for those little fingers. Open up a whole new world for my students to explore.
I am a self-taught photography enthusiast.
It seemed only natural to share this with my students. I started the program last year and earned plenty of positive feedback. I feel we can go further with better equipment instead of hand me down cameras and outdated models that broke or froze up too often.
