My students need to view and share the demonstrations and student examples, up close, in our theme classes through the use of a document camera.

My Students

Students have a difficult time sitting still and focused on any one activity for more than a few minutes. In a classroom of 34 students, seeing and experiencing actual hands on demonstrations/activities in class is so much more captivating and interesting than seeing it in a book.

At our middle school we have a mix of student abilities but all are exposed to experiential learning.

We use a thematic approach to learning across the curriculum where students are guided through a series of discovery-type activities that provide them with the basis to form their own conclusions and frame their own learning. Students come from all socioeconomic groups from the inner city and the suburbs. We are a choice school so parents make the conscious choice to send their kids to our middle school.

My Project

Students will be able to present and view each others' work/demonstrations by using this document camera. Sharing/critiquing/revising is an integral part of learning and allows students to experience the "wow" of someones learning and experience. Teachers will use this camera to allow all students to experience teacher demos as well.

Our project will allow all 8th Grade students to actively participate and learn about relevant issues that are related to our themes.

Using the document camera they can share their learning with classmates and learn to become critical thinkers.
