Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye in March for Spring break that it would mean that it was our last day in the classroom together. We began actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participated three times a week in Zoom meetings to go over new material, and to check in with each other. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things. My students and I embarked on the distance learning journey last year but we are looking to make many improvements for our blended learning options next year.
While I work in a Title 1 school, where almost all of our students come from homes with low incomes, our students are blessed to have iPads to take home to work on assignments.
This is a blessing for us with our distance learning. However, we still need additional support!
My Project
It is hard to believe this year has already come to an end and next school year is quickly approaching. It will be a challenging school year for students and teachers but our goal is to make sure all students are engaged in blended learning so that they can continue to grow in a digital environment.
This project will help us utilize the iPads for engaging audio/video recording in programs like Flipgrid, clips, and much more.
This will not only engage students in the learning at hand but it will also ensure all students can access the material in new ways.
Some of our students with special needs have a difficult time using or typing on the iPad for writing assignments. The pens will allow students a variety of ways to access and demonstrate their learning without technology creating unintended difficulties.
Overall, this project will help our students continue their learning in engaging ways during this very difficult time.
