Help me give my students the opportunity to learn and play Afro-Cuban music in a variety of percussion ensemble, jazz band, and concert band literature.
Leonard Bernstein once said, "I can't live one day without hearing music, playing it, studying it, or thinking about it." Enlightening, passionate, connecting, thoughtful, intense, satisfying, and joyful are the things that make working with my students wonderful and indescribable. I’m so grateful that I have the privilege to teach them and am even more grateful that they work hard every day!
All of my students are motivated to become the best musicians possible.
My Percussionists are thirsty for new musical instruments, experiences, and repertoire. Acquiring a set of Congas and bongos will allow them to perform a wider variety of music, and learn about the Afro-Cuban musical culture! As of now, we are limited in performing a wide repertoire, due to the fact that specialized instruments are not easily accessible.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door!
When you think of Latin and Afro-Cuban music…Congas are very often one of the first instruments to come to mind.
And, along with bongos, they are inseparable from the rhythmic foundation of this music.
One of the main characteristics of Afro-Cuban music is Rhythm.
And without congas, you can bet a Salsa band wouldn’t sound half as good, and would probably be completely lost. New conga students can master the music and dance form with commitment and practice.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their percussion knowledge and ability to play a wider variety of musical literature!
