My Students

My high school students are strong and capable youth, who don't know it. They have failed in other schools, but here they get a second chance. We try to create a school environment where students are comfortable trying again and build confidence as they succeed where they have failed before by focusing on vital behaviors that are necessary for success in high school as well as in their future lives.

Being a smaller school we can focus on the 'one' and give students opportunities they have not had before which is a key element in helping them be and feel successful.

My Project

Building a DJ system at the school gives students an opportunity to try something new and interesting to them. At-Risk students do not typically get involved in extra-curricular activities. They don't get opportunities to try new things. By owning our own DJ equipment we have the ability to have more school events that can be DJ'd and/or emceed by students.

This grant will give students the tools to plan, organize, and create activities for the school, giving them real-life experiences!

Students who get these opportunities are more likely to engage in school activities and build positive relationships.
