Our community is racially and ethnically diverse. We also have a wide expanse of socio-economic levels and needs as well as an everchanging student population. With our melting pot of cultures and backgrounds, students are eager to learn, share, and develop empathy for others.
We are constantly trying to find ways to pull our students together and create a strong sense of community.
The middle school years are difficult, formative years. It is so important that they feel connected and heard.
My Project
Our students are suffering with the continued distance learning. They are needing outlets to help them deal with the stress brought on my continued separation from the school environment and their friends that are so important during the formative middle school years.
We are hoping to provide some of our most vulnerable students with ways to use physical activity to help them cope with their feelings of isolation.
Many have been given the responsibility of also caring for younger siblings. We are reaching out in any way we can to make this journey a little less painful by providing outlets for their frustrations and anxiety.
