My Students
My students are a wonderful group of 8th graders, many of whom have immigrated from countries like El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Philippines, Ethiopia, Laos, and the Dominican Republic. All 8th grade students at my school are language learners whether that is learning Spanish for the first time or learning English. We are a dual language community that works together to learn about societal issues, poetry, theatre, and short stories all in Spanish!
The majority of my students come from low-income backgrounds and are striving to pursue their education to make a difference in their community.
My students work together to break language barriers and communicate with each other. I have seen students who speak only Spanish work with students who only speak English to collaborate and help each other succeed.
My Project
I am requesting snacks and sanitization materials (lysol wipes, hand sanitizer) to continue ensuring a safe and clean classroom environment where all students are healthy! Often times, my students are not eating enough during the day which causes them to be disengaged are distracted in class.
Please consider helping give our students some snacks and equipment to continue staying safe and healthy during the day.
I have selected healthier snacks to also teach them about the importance of the foods they are consuming. Rather than giving them a sugar rush, I would like our students to feel full from a nutritious snack.
