My Students

The students at this school are detail oriented and will appreciate art in the outdoor setting of their outdoor school. The school is located down the street from the ocean and also the river, therfore many students have outdoor hobbies that include water.

My Project

The students will be able to study how an artist creates a mural using exterior paint on a concrete wall. They will see the Elements of Art and Principles of Design used in a composition. The students will identify that art comes in many different forms and the possibilities are endless. There are chanlenges with outdoor art lasting in the weather and specific paint must be used. Studying how artists make murals will help students to understand scale and how large an outdoor mural is. A mural of this size takes planning and deciding how much paint is needed.
