My students need basic tennis equipment to provide more opportunity for additional students to participate in school tennis teams to support a healthy lifestyle.
At our school, we have a diverse student population, with about 42% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Our students are consistently striving to try to make things better for our school and each other.
Despite the various obstacles in their life, the students are great stewards of trying to do what is right, especially when it comes to their own well-being and those of their classmates.
They concentrate on their classwork during the day and those who have the opportunity, participate in extra-curricular activities after school.
My Project
Our school has received several Healthy School awards from our State. With today's lifestyles, many students need additional physical activities as a tool to enable them to choose a healthy path to follow. A couple of years ago, we started a school tennis team to increase after-school activity. The first year was strictly learning the fundamentals of the game and playing each other. The following year they were a team playing other schools and clubs. This year, more students want the opportunity to learn tennis and play on a team. Some of these students have never played a team sport!
We want all of our students to have an opportunity to participate in team sports that will encourage cooperation with others and especially being in charge of their own healthy lifestyle.
Having the ability to offer an additional team so that more students will have the chance to learn and play tennis will certainly give these students their "advantage" towards their healthy lifestyle.
