Teaching So All Can Learn

Help me give my students an online program that allows me to create individual visual aids, schedules and adapt curriculum materials so all my students are able to fully access and develop a greater understanding of the world.

My Students

I teach an amazing and energetic group of Preschoolers with a variety of disabilities. My students range in age from 3 to 5 years old. I strive to meet my student's needs and build on their strengths so that their school experience is a positive and meaningful experience. I have been blessed to work with these amazing kids and their families for over 25 years. I've taken joy in being a part of a special school community where students, families, and teachers work together to give all kids a strong social-emotional and pre-academic foundation.

My Project

Boardmaker online is a program that allows me to create visual schedules and routines. My students demonstrate developmental and language delays and benefit from visuals to develop an understanding of the world around them. I will use this program to adapt early learning materials such as stories and early learning activities so that they are able to fully participate in the classroom tasks.

Research has shown that visual supports work with children who have autism spectrum disorders (ASD) serves two main purposes, helping with communication and developing social-emotional skills.

I will also use the program to support my students at home. Many of my families request a visual schedule at home for both daily living routines and schedules.
