As our middle school's technology integrator I get to work with some amazing 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! We have approximately 300 students who attend our rural, central Maine school. Fortunately I get to work directly with 35 students by facilitating a Technology Explorers group during our daily activity period, a robotics club before school, and our student technology support team known as the "iTeam" during Friday study halls. All of these awesome students give up their "free" time to participate in these groups.
In addition to a passion for technology, these students are amazing problem solvers, critical thinkers, love helping others and are always excited about learning something new.
They add fun and purpose to my work as an integrationist. They all have the potential to be amazing student leaders.
My Project
These middle school students will get the opportunity to share and grow their passion for technology by attending the MLTI state wide student technology conference. They will join 1000s of other like minded students to listen to inspiring keynote speakers and attend hands on sessions. Some of the sessions they can chose from include filming with green screen, 3D printing, virtual & augmented reality and many more.
This is an exciting opportunity to engage with other student leaders from across the state as they celebrate their passion for technology with one another.
Past students who have attended the conference have reported it to be the best trip they've ever taken. This trip will allow my students to see themselves as leaders as they bring back what they learn and share it with others.
