Help me give my students the chance to experience hot wheels on this 50th anniversary year playing with physics, speed, velocity, track curves, height and so much more. The brain learns better when the body is having fun.
My students come from all neighborhoods in our diverse city. We are a large comprehensive Title I middle school. My students speak Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, Samoan, Korean, Japanese, Danish, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Urdu, Farsi and Arabic. They are eager to learn, create, design and be part of a learning lab we call middle school! The library is being transformed into a Learning Commons, and our student lunch period is a wild time for exploration at the maker space tables. I have too many students vying to get into the library during lunch because they can do things with their minds, hearts and hands. It is a vibrant, cooperative, and dynamic space that we cherish.
My Project
Lunchtime Maker in our library has all grades coming to learn in our library. We are in need of more science and math play learning about mass, speed, and variables which are all part of learning by using hot wheels and the loop the loop game. Students using hot wheels and LEGO bricks can create physics comparison experiments. The Hot Wheels Track Builder Total Turbo Takeover Track Set will get the students excited about the world of physics. The clamp will hold the tracks to our library tables. The marbles and other hot wheel track parts and storage containers will help students create Rube Goldberg machines that teach chain reactions and how physics is all around them and they can manipulate and create different outcomes.
Getting students excited about physics through experimenting with scientific concepts using popular toys such as hot wheels, LEGO, marbles and LEGO people will stimulate critical thinking, grow their imaginations, learn to problem solve and have fun while building and tinkering across the arbitrary grade level assignments.
