Our school has a population of 400 students grade K-5. As the music teacher I see all the students in the building. This includes students who have disabilities and come from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. The diversity at our school helps to make it a great school, the students learn from one another and get along great together.
Our students play big role by bringing the families in the neighborhood together for a common purpose.
When the students put on this show it will fill up the entire gym. This is a sign the arts matter to our families.
Performing is a way to support the arts, engage our students and involve the school community.
My Project
Many times, I have to put 3-4 students on an instrument to share. Depending on the activity partnering doesn't always work. An additonal Soprano and Alto glockenpiel will add to our classroom inventory. This will also lessen the number of students partnering on instruments in music class. As result it will give them more playing time, and increase their musicianship skills.
Students are always excited to play instruments in class, and it enriches their music experience.
The current alto and soprano glockenspiel have rust and it's difficult to read the letters. One of them is also missing a bar, so it makes it challenging when playing certain pieces. Although the instruments are over 20 years old, they still make a decent sound. In addition I am looking to get drum sticks for my bucket drumming unit, and various bucket drumming activities we do throught the year.
The students will be excited to see new instruments in the music room. The instruments will last for many years and help add to the success of the music program. The students would greatly appreciate your support!
