Students here represent a wide variety of cultures, ethnic groups, orientations, religions, and genders. The entire campus has over 600 students from neighborhoods throughout East Bay from Richmond up to Hercules.
Film and Multimedia is a Pathways, Career Technical Education program designed to give students a professional edge in the film industry.
There are over twenty students in the first year of the program seeking career readiness education from local industry professionals. They're excited about a career in film and multimedia!
My Project
My students are working hard in their Career Pathways program, Film and Multimedia. Second year students will be producing a 5-10 minute short film which will be submitted to local and state film festivals.
Student film productions will need extension cords, reflectors, and safety equipment to film on location.
By having students complete a full production, they gain the invaluable experience of creating a professional quality short film which they can add to their portfolio and garner accolades for their film career.
Careers in film stretch beyond Hollywood, and students at Hercules Middle School look at the multifaceted way that film production experience helps in movie, TV, and advertising production but also in educational and instructional videos, professional development videos, and much more.
