Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you walk through our building, you see respectful, happy and champions in learning! Our students take pride in the building by making sure it is clean. You would never know our students receive free breakfast and lunch, because when they are in school, they make everyday count in their classes! They have such big hearts by caring for everyone and everything. Our students are DI (Destination Imagination) State Champs in Engineering and 3rd/4th place winners in the Battle of the Books.
The students are like a sponge!
They can't get enough of the arts! They keep asking for more!! We have 5th grade students take band and choir after school, dance, and piano lessons. The students believe they need to experience music in their lives.
My Project
Ukulele's are versatile, portable, educational and fun! The student's build their musicianship by learning how to tune, strumming/rhythm, accompaniment, melody, singing, hand coordination, sight-reading, and many other skills. Students will integrate mathematics by students seeing the string becoming shorter in length to create a higher pitch. Students will involve history and culture by the development of the instrument, how it is made, how sound is produced, the origins of the instrument, and its history/culture of the music being experienced.
Social Skills and responsibility come into play by assisting classmates with learning, developing teamwork in playing together and creativity in making their own songs!
They will be able to learn how to care for their instrument, track their practice time and monitor their progress! Ukulele's are easy to learn and the perfect lead-in to guitar!
